Along with Gill Street, Mosman Street is one of the main streets of Charters Towers. Originally it was considered 'the' main street, and at one point there were around sixteen hotels strung along the length of the street. Dozens of shops and some of the most important buildings were also dotted along Mosman Street, including the Stock Exchange and several major banks.

Gill Street eventually took over as the main centre of Charters Towers, but Mosman Street is still a bustling street with many original buildings.
