Miles and Company’s merry members
Whom you see depicted here
Wish you all a happy Christmas
And a Bright and Glad New Year.
First the two respected partners
Ornament the picture head
Too well known to need description
Of them nothing need be said.
Then we have D McFarlane
Quite the Father of the firm
For in faithful service rendered
He has served the longest term.
Next Tim Webb shines forth in glory
He’s our mining engineer
When we want to know the latest
To old Tim we always steer.
Then there comes the bold sharebroker
Primed up with the market price
If you want to see Frank Fraser,
He’ll be with you in a trice
Or if not, his understudy
Donald Fraser’s on the job
He will quote you in a twinkling
Prices upward of a bob.
Next the king of all accountants
Stands revealed before our gaze
For Jack Anderson is peerless
And our hats to him we raise
Mining Secretary Taylor’s
Robust form is next on view
If you’re wanting information
Go to Joe to pull you through.
Arthur Jamieson’s an expert
In the law of tribute rights
Always more or less surrounded
By a host of mining wights
If you want a cheque in payment
Of a bill or large or small
B M Millican attends you
Quick as lightning when you call
Albert Bell’s next on the carpet
What of him? I hear you yell
To this jingle he pleads guilty
What more natural from A Bell?
Charlie Peapell’s genial visage
Then appears upon the scene
You should see his fingers flying
O’er the keys of his machine
Then before us Cecil Berry
Makes the picture quite bon ton
When he takes your life he doesn’t
Know that he is doing wrong
Next there comes A G McKeown
In the office he’s alright
Very handy at a picnic
Where he is a shining light
Now we see the cashier beaming
Free for once from money cares
You can tell Dick Kirkbride Junior
By the tranquil smile he wears
If you’ve any shares for transfer
Willie Ward is always in
Don’t forget the transfer fee though
He won’t work without the tin
Then what ho! Here comes Jack Healy
You can be he’s not too slow
On the books or at a fire
Likewise on the piccolo
Next we have young Bobby Davie
Also in the Fire Brigade
See him sprinting through the office
When a fire requires his aid
Last the boys; but what’s the matter?
Surely they are very ill
How have Beveridge, Carse and Healy
For the photo kept so still?
Charge your glasses till they’re brimming
Fill them with the season’s cheer
Here’s a Merry, Merry Christmas
And a Bright and Glad New YearDigitisedYesMaterial Descriptioncopy of original photoIdentifier2025355.9275
